Reading in memory of Zareh Khrakhouni

Lola Koundakjian participated in a reading in memory of poet Zareh Khrakhouni. The event, ZAREH KHRAKHOUNI 90, was organized by the Esayan-Getronagan Alumni, and took place on Sunday, December 11, 2016, at the Armenian Society of New York.

Lola Koundakjian will be participating in the 2016 edition of the Americas Festival of New York, a multi-lingual gathering of poets in New York City. She will be part of the opening ceremonies and at a round table about translations. Both will be held at 25 Broadway, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10004.

CAMILO ROLDÁN is a poet and translator living in Brooklyn. From 2011 to 2013, he co-curated the Triptych Reading Series and is currently editor-in-chief for the chapbook press Diez. He is the author and co-author respectively of the chapbooks Amilkar U., Nadaísta in Translation (These Signals Press 2011) and ∆ [delta] (TPR Press 2013). His latest chapbook, La Torre, is out now from Well Greased Press (2015). Most recently, his work has appeared in iO, Dreginald, Prelude, The Poetry Project Newsletter, and Aufgabe.

CARMEN FIRAN, born in Romania, is a poet, a fiction and play writer, and a journalist. She has published more than 20 books of poetry, novels, essays and short stories. Her recent books are Inferno (SD Press), Rock and Dew (Sheep Meadow Press), Interviews and Encounters (with Nina Cassian, Sheep Meadow Press ), Words and Flesh (Talisman Publishers), The Second Life (Columbia University Press). Her writings appear in translation in many literary magazines and in various anthologies in France, Israel, Sweden, Germany, Ireland, Poland, Canada, U K, and in the USA. Upcoming reading in Chelsea, New York

Lola Koundakjian will be reading in the fourth edition of Voces de la ciudad/Voices of the City, which will be at the Alchemical Theatre, on Saturday, June 11, at 7:00 p.m.

This fourth edition of the series closes the first cycle which would end with a bilingual anthology, with an introduction by Rutgers University professor and scholar Laura Lomas.

Ամիսէ մը գիրքս լոյս կը տեսնէ
Ու չե՛մ գիտեր, ընկեր ճան,
Թէ բացի ընտանիքէս
Ընթերցող պիտի ունենա՞յ։
Երկու մեթր ձիւնը յաղթահարել
Աւելի դիւրին է քան հայ ընթերցողին
Տրամադրութիւնները:
Երեսունհինգ տարի է ձմրան ցուրտին չեմ վարժուած
Բայց կը փորձեմ միտքս ձիւնի պէս անբիծ պահել:
Բարեւներ տիկնոջդ։


ԳԱՐՈՒՆ Է, ՍԻՐԵԼԻ ԲԱՐԵԿԱՄ


Բանաստեղծութիւնդ ստացայ
Ձայնագրութեան հետ, ու կրկին՝ ապրի՛ս։
Այդ օր, երբ խռպոտ ձայնով
Զայն լսեցի, արդէն կը զգայի
Թէ որքան կարեւոր էր ընտանեկան
Սիրոյ մեղեդիէն չհեռանալ:
Գրեցիր հիւսիսային Ափրիկէի հարցերուն մասին։
Քանինե՜ր մեռան։ Բայց մեր կեանքը կը շարունակուի։
Երեսունհինգ տարի է գարնան գեղեցկութենէն
չեմ կշտացած ու կը փորձեմ անոր հետ հոգեպէս վերածնիլ։

ԱՄԱՌ Է, ՍԻՐԵԼԻՍ


Խոլորձներս տակաւին ողջ են ու մինչեւ այսօր
Ծաղկած մնացին, բայց հիմա սկսած են
Իրենց երկար քունը մինչեւ աշուն։
Այդ իրիկուն երբ աչքերդ գոցեցիր եւ
բանատեղծութիւն մը արտասանեցիր,
սրտիս մէջ մեծ բան մը պատռուեցաւ
Ու հոգիիս մէջ թափանցեցիր։
Կը յիշե՞ս երբ հանդիպեցանք թանգարանը ու չկրցայ խօսիլ։
Այդ նկարները աչքերուս առջեւ են տակաւին:
Երեսունհինգ տարիէ ի վեր քեզի կը սպասէի:
Բարեւներ անծանօթ մօրդ։


ԱՇՈՒՆ Է, ՍԻՐԵԼԻ ԲԱՐԵԿԱՄՈՒՀԻ


Օրերը կը կարճնան ու գրելու համար
Աւելի ճիգ պէտք է։
Կ’ուզեմ անդադար դուրսերը պտտիլ
Ու բնական լոյսին հետ խաղալ։
Այս շաբաթ քու հալավա պի ժիպնը
Պիտի սարքեմ։ Քսան տարի առաջ
Երբ հոս կ’ապրէիր այս անուշեղէնը
Պատրաստել սորվեցուցիր ու միշտ քեզ կը յիշեմ։
Թէյ խմելու օդ է, ընկերուհի ճա՛ն։

Թափառական աստղերուն հարցուցի՝

Ու՞ր են մարդոց թռցուցած խելքերը:

Անոնք պատասխանեցին՝ գնա՜ արեւելք
բայց հոն խելքեր չգտայ։

Դեղին դաշտերուն մէջ երկնցայ
ու խոտերուն հարցուցի ու՞ր են

երեւակայական ոգիները ու անոնք
պատասխանեցին՝ շուրջդ դիտէ՛։

Խմողներուն, ծխողներուն, ձուկերուն ու մուկերուն
աչքերուն մէջ խորու՜նկ նայեցայ

ու հարցուցի՝ ու՞ր են ու՞ր թափառական
աստղերը ու անոնք մատով ցցուցին…
